Random: Firewatch On Switch Pays Respect To The N64 With This Classic Easter Egg

A game within a game.

Campo Santo's walking simulator Firewatch is now out on the Switch. If you needed an extra incentive to pick up this particular version of the game, it's been discovered there's a special Nintendo 64 easter egg hidden deep within the forest. Obviously, if you intend to play the game, we recommend you click away now to avoid any spoilers.

At a certain point in your adventure, your character will stumble upon a supply cache. To unlock it you'll have to input a code ending in 64. Doing this unlocks a virtual title called 'Forrest 64' - which can actually be played by placing the old school cartridge next to a statue in the game. When you do this, it allows you to access a platform-style title reminiscent of Banjo-Kazooie, where you have to go around collecting items, escaping from enemies and even participating in timed races.
